Interpretation of Darkside by Alan Walker

Darkside - Alan walker lyric

We're not in love
We share no stories
Just something in your eyes
Don't be afraid
The shadows know me
Let's leave the world behind

Take me through the night
Fall into the dark side
We don't need the light
We'll live on the dark side
I see it, let's feel it
While we're still young and fearless
Let go of the light
Fall into the dark side
Fall into the dark side
Give into the dark side
Let go of the light
Fall into the dark side
Beneath the sky
As black as diamonds
We're running out of time
Don't wait for truth
To come and blind us
Let's just believe their lies
Believe it, I see it
I know that you can feel it
No secrets worth keeping
So fool me like I'm dreaming
Take me through the night
Fall into the dark side
We don't need the light
We'll live on the dark side
I see

Why I wrote this is because my son really likes listening to Alan Walker's songs including this Darkside. At first, I didn't really pay attention but when I sang it myself then I realized that I need to know this song better. Well, right now my son just listen and sing the song without knowing the meaning. But as he grows up, I am afraid he will idolized Allan and all his songs and even believes and follow everything he does and about him. So, here I am trying to write my interpretation of this song.

The first stanza of this song tells us that someone is attracted to her. She knows it from his look and ensure him to continue their feeling. She invited him to do more without thinking about anything else. The dark side, here she meant as the bad or evil things to do like betrayal (may be they have their own spouse already) or any acts which are forbidden by rule or religion. She doesn't care if they must do evil things. She wants to feel and experience everything while she  is young, brave and has chance. Leaving the norm and good things, prefer to experience the evil world.

In the third stanza, she is convincing him that they may lose the chance and will never get it back. While there is a big opportunity which is representing by something precious like diamonds, they must do it now. Because she is afraid that both of them will be in doubt when they wise up. The last sentence "Let's just believe their lies" is her challence to trust the evil justification that they tend to believe.

She asked him to follow what he feels and invites him to take her to "fall into the dark side" or do the forbidden thing. "we don't need the light" means that she doesn't need the rule, the religion or truth that she and most people believe to blame or accuse her. She chooses to fight the good thing because she doesn't wanna lose the chance to be with him.

I don't know whether this song interpretation is correct according to its song writer of Dark side. But, I am quite sure that what I write is the common interpretation of most people. A good interpreter will probably dig deeper to find the writer's life background and others to get more accurate interpretation. But, the music lover will only sing it and try to know the meaning literally.

My intention to write this interpretation is merely to provide more information and warning for us to pay attention to everything that our children do and like. We couldn't prevent our children to listen to every song, but we need to tell them that they must be selective and critical about everything. Since  good and evil things always exist in this world.

Here I wrote a new lyric of dark side

We're not in love

We share no stories

Just something in your eyes

I'am so afraid

The shadows chase me and

Take me into the dark

Keep me safe and dry

Don't live on the dark side

We will keep the light
Don't live on the dark side.

Don't feel it, ignore it
While we're still can avoid it
Let's go to the light
Don't live on the dark side

Don't live on the dark side
Don't live on the dark side
Let's go to the light
Don't live on the dark side

Beneath the sky
As black as devil mind
We're running out of time
Don't wait for demon
To come and blind us
Let's just believe our faith

Believe it, I see  it
I know that you can keep it
No mistakes worth keeping
Don't fool me 'coz I am precious

Keep me safe and dry

Don't live on the dark side

We will keep the light
Don't live on the dark side.

DESCRIPTIVE TEXT

Looking at several peaks of mountain range in Tempur Village, Jepara will be an enchanting experience. This place is situated in a hidden valley about 66 km from Jepara. Despite the long trip the visitors will forget it soon after they reach the narrow road that will lead them down to the valley along the river bank. The steep and winding road force you to focus driving safely and the adventurous sensation that you feel along the way toward secret and hidden place. It's really like the lost world.  There are many traffic signs to guide and warn the visitors about the danger they may face on the road. The most important thing to do while people driving towards the village is blowing horns to warn other driver in front of them due to the curved road.

To reach the destination you can drive your own car or motorbike. If you ride a car you need to stop at certain place and continue your trip by ojeg  or taxibike. The ojeg cost 20 thousand rupiahs for a round-trip which is quite cheap. But you may also continue your trip on foot, but I suggest you to use the Ojeg service in order to help the local dwellers earn a living.
When you arrived at the village, you will be fascinated by the stunning view of mountains which lines around the village as if it is in different world, the overlay of rice fields, the fresh air, the green trees you can see everywhere, the sound of insects and birds and the zigzag river with its clear water.  If you are lucky you will also find strong man or women with a big bundle of leaves or grass on their backs and even a man riding on motorbike with his wife sitting on the leaves or grass on the passenger's seat.

There are several spots that you can explore such as, Candi Angin, Candi Bubrah, Sumur Batu, Kaldera Gunung Muria, Kolam Nawang Wulan, the fishing pond Tempoera, Camping area, Ombo River, Gelis River, coffee plantation, and cafe forTempur coffee. Those spots are not really close to each other, so it is not recommended to visit all the places within a day. Staying for one night or more in the village will be an unforgettable moment and it will enable you to enjoy all the spots, breath the more  fresh air and experience the solitude of the heaven-like valley.
Despite the scattered temple which is quite disappointing, you can still visit the temple for a study purpose. And if you take your children, that will be worth experience for them too in order to grow their nationalism spirit and provoke their curiosity about their country and its history.
Tasting a cup of local coffee is another must to do thing when you visit this valley. And it will be perfect experience to enjoy the coffee plantation tour which is situated in Dukuh village, so that you and your children will recognize the living plant, leaves, and seeds of coffee and also smell the aromatic roasted coffee.
 Answer the following questions!

Hagia Sophia
This is Istanbul’s top attraction; the Church of the Holy Wisdom (Hagia Sophia) began as a Byzantine church, then it became a mosque during the Ottoman Era and today is a museum. It is without doubt a great architectural wonder. The original structure has not survived but it was constructed here in the 4th century under the founder of Constantinople, Constantine the Great. After the original building was destroyed Constantine’s son Emperor Theodosius had a new church built in its place. The second structure burnt down in 532 but parts of it have been recovered through excavations. The structure we see today dates back to 532-537 when its construction was over seen by Justinian I. Although the church suffered from earthquakes and an attack by the Crusaders in 1204 it has retained its historic structure and decoration. From 1453 for 500 years the church became the main mosque of Istanbul during the Ottoman Era.
The church was designed by Anthemius of Tralles and Isidore of Miletus; it has a classic basilica layout. The church features rich mosaics and a grand central dome with a diameter of 31 meters. The circular dome rests on a rectangular base all richly decorated with murals, Arabic calligraphy and mosaics. All the interior surfaces are polychrome marble in green, purple and white with gold mosaics. You can see the marble mihrab which has survived from the Ottoman Era. Of the many magnificent mosaics the most famous are on the upper floor galleries. From the galleries you have a wonderful view down to the nave. Outside in the church grounds there are several points of interest including mausoleums, a baptistery and some excavated remains.
