Manual Teks

Definition

A manual shows how to operate or use an appliance, a tool, a machine properly, so that the user will achieve the best performance and prevent accidents, harm, or damage.

Generic Structure

The structure of Manual Text is almost the same with Procedure Text, but there isn’t any material or tools mentioned:

§  Aim/goal (tujuan)

Contoh: How to Make Noodle

§  Steps/methods

Contoh: First, wash the tomatoes. Then cut it into slices.

Example of Manual Text

1. How to use your washing machine

1. Select a wash temperature that’s as close as possible to the maximum wash temperature on the care label.

If you need that shirt this evening, you may need to select the quick wash programme (cycle), even if you know your garment could have got cleaner still on a full-length cycle. Many people fail to realise that you have to take in two bits of information on wash labels: the temperature of the water and the type of wash programme the item can safely withstand. These are not the same. So when you see the cotton symbol, you can’t assume that the fabric can take the top temperature.

2. Choose the proper spin programme.

Clothes going in the tumble drier can take a long or extra spin. But if you’re washing nylons and synthetics that you plan to hang out, choose a lighter spin, so that the clothes don’t pick up creases in a long spin.

3. Put detergent in the machine.

Add tablets, powder, or liquid to the dispenser. If you use liquid capsules, put them in before the clothes. However, powder tablets contained in the manufacturer’s net bag need to sit on top of the washing, so add the bagafter you add the clothes.

4. Put the dirty items in the machine.

Don’t overload the machine. If you pack it too tightly, there’s less room for the machine to agitate the dirt out of your washing. The best way to get a correct load is to weigh it to fit in with your machine’s capacity As a very rough guide, if you have more than 15 items, you’ve put in too much

2.How to cook instant noodle

1. Choose instant noodle according to your taste.( pilihlah mie Instan berdasarkan rasa kesukaanmu)

2. Open the package of noodles that you've chosen and then heat the water in 400 cc pots ( bukalah bungkus yang kamu pilih dan panaskan air dalam teko sebanyak 400 cc)

3. After that the input of boiling water into the pot noodles and stir for 3 minutes.( setelah itu masukkan air mendidih kedalam mie dan aduk selama 3 menit)

4. While the noodles boiled, combine spices, spice oils, and chili powder supplied into the bowl.( sementara mie direbus, campurkan bumbu, minyak rasa dan bubuk cabai kedalam mangkok)

5. Pour the noodles and broth into a bowl and mix well so that the noodles and the seasonings evenly mixed.

6. Noodles ready to serve. ( mie siap disajikan)

Blue Whale

The blue whale is not only the biggest whale living today; the blue whale is the biggest creature ever to have lived on Earth. They are mind-bogglingly gigantic; much larger than any of the dinosaurs. Blue whales and the other ocean giants live their whole lives in seawater.

Blue whales commonly reach the colossal length of 29m, that’s roughly as long as three London red double-decker buses parked end to end. Blue whales in the Southern Hemisphere are generally larger than those in the Northern Hemisphere and female blues are larger than males.

The longest blue whale on record is a female measured at a South Georgia whaling station in the South Atlantic (1909); she was 33.58m. The heaviest blue whale was also a female hunted in the Southern Ocean, Antarctica, on 20 March 1947. She tipped the scales at 190 tonnes which is equivalent to about 30 elephants or 2500 people.

Blue whales are now extremely rare due to uncontrolled commercial whaling. Some populations could be endangered to the point of extinction.

Cellphone

Cellphones or cellular phones are small portable radio phones. Mobile phones are often referred to as cordless or wireless phones.

This wireless telephone can make it easier for you to establish long-distance communication. The cellphone is connected to the cell site (the nearest base station) which is used to connect it to the main network on the telephone. Almost all regions of cellphone development are increasing, but if one cell phone with another has a long distance from the main cell, the new cell will take control in making calls. This will result in a call using new cells that are connected or called takeovers. Mobile users don’t know if their calls are moved to another cell. This happens because the takeover is done carefully and well.

Now the price of cellphones is cheaper because it is popular among many people and many who want to have it. Per month there is the lowest cellphone fee of US $ 30 to US $ 40. Because of its cheap purchases, now mobile phones have replaced the role of public telephones and coin phones except for residents who live in large numbers of cities.

NEWS ITEM

Pakailah bantuan teknik 5W1H (what, who, where, when, why, how).
  • Source: alias sumber.

Oke,  gampang kok pahamin strukturnya. Biar lebih kebayang kayak gimana, coba perhatikan contoh berikut ya.

3. Death Toll from Indonesia’s Volcano Eruption Climbs to 34

Search and rescue operations are still under way to find 16 people missing after the eruption of Java’s Mount Semeru. The death toll from the eruption on Saturday of the highest volcano on Indonesia’s Java island has risen to at least 34, local officials said, and rescue operations are still under way. Mount Semeru, in the Lumajang district of East Java province, spewed thick columns of ash more than 12,000 metres (40,000 feet) into the sky, with searing gas and lava flowing down its slopes after the sudden eruption. The disaster left entire streets filled with mud and ash, swallowing homes and vehicles in several villages.

“So far, 34 people have died and 16 are still being searched [for],” Wayan Suyatna, head of the local search and rescue agency, told state media on Tuesday, raising an earlier death toll of 14. He added that nearly 3,700 people have been evacuated from the affected area.

Rescuers have been battling dangerous conditions since the eruption, searching for survivors and bodies in the volcanic debris, wrecked buildings and destroyed vehicles. Search crews deployed dogs on Tuesday to aid the operation.

Mount Semeru has remained active since Saturday, with small eruptions keeping emergency workers and residents on edge. On Tuesday, there were three small eruptions, each spewing ash about a kilometre (3,300 feet) into the sky, authorities said. Officials have advised locals not to travel within 5km (3.1 miles) of Semeru’s crater, as the nearby air is highly polluted and could affect vulnerable groups.

Indonesia, an archipelago of more than 270 million people, is prone to earthquakes and volcanic activity because it sits along the Pacific “Ring of Fire”, a horseshoe-shaped series of fault lines.(This article was published in Al Jazeera Creative Commons)
